TREB praises Housing Committee

The Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB) has applauded recent Toronto and East York decisions which the board believes could have a positive impact on housing affordability and supply.
One key decision was a recent vote in support of regulations allowing laneway suites across East York and Toronto.
“TREB strongly believes that the supply of affordable housing and long-term rental stock in Toronto must be a priority for City Council and that all options should be considered, including laneway housing,” said TREB CEO John DiMichele.
TREB also supports Toronto’s decision to establish a Standing Committee on Housing whose primary mandate is to monitor and make recommendations on housing and shelter in the city.
TREB said these decisions, if they stand, “will help ensure that housing issues and supply are given the attention and cross-divisional planning they require in order to ensure a better quality of life for all Torontonians.”
