Small-town builders beat the big boys
March 20, 2018
Small-town British Columbia builders beat major developers and homebuilders from Metro Vancouver during the annual Canadian Home Builders Association of BC (CHBA-BC) Georgie Awards on March 10.
For most of this award’s 26-year history, Metro Vancouver builders were the predominant winners. Not this year.
Over 45 awards were given out to homebuilders across B.C. with the Okanagan region claiming the Grand Georgie Awards, Custom Home Builder of the Year, and Customer Satisfaction awards—along with eight other trophies.
Big winners included Bercum Builders Inc. of Vernon as Grand Georgie and Custom Home Builder of the Year. Best single-family detached house over 2,300 square feet—considered the pinnacle in the detached category—went to Production Paradise Estates of Kelowna. Bellamy Homes of Kelowna won the custom home valued from $500,000-$899,000 award for its Okanagan Viewpoint project.
“A record year of entries meant the competition was strong,” said CEO Neil Moody of the CHBA-BC.
The CHBA-BC noted that a judging panel of out-of-province industry professionals selected the Georgie finalists and winners.
