October 16, 2017
As residential renovation spending in Nova Scotia surges, the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of Nova Scotia is celebrating with Reno Expo 2017 on October 29 in Dartmouth.
“There will be dozens of experts onsite to answer renovation questions [and] we will also have seminars lead by industry experts throughout the day,” according to a release from the Association.
A packed house is possible as renovation spending in Nova Scotia reached $600 million in the second quarter, up 12.9 per cent from a year earlier, according to Statistics Canada.
This increase leads all the other Eastern Canada provinces. Newfoundland and Labrador posted a 9.3 per cent decline in renovation spending in the second quarter compared to the same period last year, to $354 million, while New Brunswick reported a two per cent drop to $417.3 million, StatsCan reported. Prince Edward Island had a 31.6 per cent increase in renovation spending, to $70.6 million.
Across Canada, second quarter residential renovation spending tallied $33.1 billion, up 7.7 per cent from the same period in 2016.
