CHBA Announcement of New CEO
After nearly 30 years at the helm of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association, John Kenward has decided it is time for the next chapter in his life.
As Chief Operating Officer of the CHBA, John dedicated himself to the home building industry with exceptional passion, vision and hard work. He had an unwavering commitment to the members of the Association, to promote the interests of the industry so each and every member has the best possible opportunity to prosper in their business.
John has been tireless in his support of the Association’s volunteers and elected leaders, guiding and backing them every step of the way. Heading up the National Office, John has also led a great team of dedicated staff members.
“On behalf of the CHBA’s Executive Board, I want to recognize John’s leadership and his contributions to the Association for the past 29 years, and wish him the very best going forward,” said Deep Shergill, CHBA President. “I am also pleased to announce the appointment of Kevin Lee as our new CHBA Chief Executive Officer.
Kevin comes to the CHBA from the Office of Energy Efficiency at Natural Resources Canada where for the past five years he has been the Director of the Housing Division.
Kevin’s background and career experiences make him ideally suited to lead the Association going forward, combining hands-on industry knowledge with extensive executive experience.
Briefly, Kevin is a professional engineer with a Master’s in Architecture from McGill University, and he has spent the last 25 years of his career working to advance the energy performance of housing for Canadians. He has also worked in the trades for some years and been an R-2000 builder.
Along with his knowledge of the issues faced by our industry, Kevin brings a wealth of housing experience across the public and private sector to the position.
“It is a privilege for me to be joining the CHBA,” said Kevin. “I am thrilled about the opportunity.”
The Executive Board welcomed Kevin to the Association, as we continue to serve members’ interests and fulfill our mission as the voice of the residential construction industry in Canada. CHBA looks forward to the continued support of members and staff as our new CEO assumes his role in CHBA on the first of June.
