Mattamy buys U.S. home builder

November 24, 2017

Toronto-based Mattamy Homes has bought Royal Oaks Building Group, the largest homebuilder in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, U.S.A.
No price for the acquisition was released, despite requests from Home BUILDER magazine.
Mattamy Homes is the largest privately owned home builder in North America, with a nearly 40-year history of operations across the United States and Canada. The company has been active in North Carolina for some years, primarily in Charlotte. Mattamy is already building in nine U.S. markets. Its U.S. operation is headquartered in Orlando, Florida.
Royal Oaks was founded in 2000. The company has approximately 80 employees, and builds attached and detached single-family homes.
The acquisition of Royal Oaks supports Mattamy’s strategy of extending its footprint within the U.S. East Coast, according to Peter Gilgan, founder and CEO of Mattamy Homes.
